Dec 26, 2015 HP Officejet 8600 scanner will not work in OS X Yosemite Since I have upgraded the operating system to OS X 9.5 to OS 10.10 the scanner function in my HP Officejet printer will not scan. I checked the setting to ensure the scan to computer was enabled yet the scanner will not communicate with the computer and vice versa. HP Scanner Device Driver, HP WIA Scan Driver, HP TWAIN Scan Driver (Certified), HP Scan, HP Scanner Tools Utility, HP Event (Button) Handler, HP Windows Installer, I.R.I.S. Readiris Pro, I.R.I.S. Cardiris, Nuance PaperPort, SDK (software Development Kit), LPDF (file with link to download software), No Mac Software.

I understand that your HP Envy 4500 Series printer will not print after being set up. This printer’s drivers are available directly from running Software Update on your Mac so you shouldn’t need to download them directly. The first attached article shows that this specific printer’s software is available.
For troubleshooting, I would suggest working through the steps in the next attached article. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
